When buying a used boat, it is particularly important to take a close look
The used boat market is booming and prices are plummeting. But how do I find a bargain, how do I recognise the penny grave?

It's a good time to buy a boat. In addition to the boats that were already for sale in the autumn, the offers of those who have decided to sell over the winter are coming in the spring. The used boat market, which is already huge at the moment, therefore fills up once again due to the season. In addition, the costs for winter storage, which is almost over, are no longer applicable, which is another reason to buy now. And most of the boats are still on land, where they can be scrutinised at leisure. If you find the yacht of your dreams, the time until the trial run is no longer as long as it was when you bought in autumn.

However, there is a particular danger right now. Because it's not long until the sailing season, some potential buyers are feeling anxious, even stressed, just to get their hands on a yacht in time. This can tempt people to sign contracts prematurely, more so than in autumn, when they can still go to the yacht and think about it.

It is therefore important to know the weak points that occur again and again on most older yachts. It is also important to distinguish between damage and wear and tear, which is important when determining the value. We have compiled over 30 tips in the current issue of YACHT on what to pay particular attention to when checking used boats and what it costs to rectify the respective defect.
